Installation

Randomize layout by separating joints and blending edges

Random Look
1. Separate adjacent joints by at least 8". If less than 8" then separate those endpoints by at least two rows.
2. Ease contrast between adjacent boards by matching the edges in color and/or grain.
3. Avoid fields of dark and fields of light colored boards.

4. Lay out boards at least 5 rows deep.
5.  Avoid creating a "stair step" pattern.
6. Reserve mostly longer boards for the main field.

NO SQUEEKS
Glue down wood floor with an adhesive that doubles as a vapor barrier.

Recommended:

Roberts R1535 ($42 gal.)
coverage is about 25 sq ft to hold down 3/4" wood plank.

Dry lay rows to avoid patterns, then stack boards so last to be used is on bottom.

Installation examples to avoid:
1. Notice the end joints are aligned with the separation of only one row in the top photo.
2. Notice the "stair step" pattern.
3. Set aside high contrast boards for less noticeable locations.
3. Notice there is a patch of darker grained flooring in the background and lighter wood in the foreground.
